Both companies have announced a new strategic agreement that includes a long-term supply contract
Embraer and Aernnova have announced a strategic agreement for the industrial units Embraer Metálicas and Embraer Composite, located in the Aeronautical Industrial Park of Évora, Portugal. The agreement includes the sale of all the shares of both subsidiaries to Aernnova.
Under the terms of the agreement, Aernnova takes over the operations of Evora’s industrial factories and a long-term supply contract is signed to ensure the programs manufactured in these plants for Embraer aircraft. With the activity of the Évora facilities, Aernnova will add an additional 170 million US $ per year to its turnover.
With 37,100 and 31,800 square meters of surface respectively, and employing about 500 people, these facilities combine the most advanced technologies in the manufacture of metallic aerostructures and composite materials with a high level of digitization and automation of their production processes.
The two factories build, among others, components for the wings and vertical and horizontal stabilizers for programs such as the Praetor 500/600, the E-Jets E-1 / E-2 family and the C-390 Millennium. Évora’s industrial units will constitute Aernnova’s largest production center in the world.
With this agreement, Aernnova strengthens its position as a Tier 1 supplier for single-aisle aircraft, and improves its presence in the business and defense aircraft sectors. The industrial capacities of the Évora plants will also allow Aernnova to expand the current Évora operations with new contracts from Embraer itself or from other clients.
“We are very happy to sign this agreement with Aernnova, a world-renowned supplier in the aerostructures segment, which will allow to increase the occupancy level of the factories in Évora, expand its customer base and bring new business opportunities”, stated Francisco Gomes Neto, President and CEO of Embraer.
Ricardo Chocarro, CEO of Aernnova, stated: «This agreement is another step in Aernnova’s growth strategy, reinforcing our company’s position as one of the world leaders in the design and manufacture of aeronautical structures. We intend to further develop the operations of the plants, making Évora a world benchmark in the manufacture of aerostructures, with the technical and commercial support of the Aernnova group, and with the continuous commitment of the company to a digital and sustainable aeronautical industry. ».
The operation is subject to certain conditions that the parties expect to fulfill in the first quarter of 2022.
