The Rector Nicolás Ruiz visits the facilities of the ATLAS Centers in Villacarrillo and Beas de Segura

The Rector of the University of Jaén, Nicolás Ruiz, visited the facilities of the CATEC ATLAS Centers in Villacarrillo and Beas de Segura, where he was able to see first-hand the facilities they have in the province of Jaén, as well as their organizational structure, lines of work and projects that they are currently developing.

The Rector has described the visit as “very satisfactory and productive” as it will allow for the establishment of collaboration ties in strategic joint projects, such as Cetedex, for example. “We have analyzed what we can do together, taking into account that we have common interests and lines of work. We are very excited and ambitious to do things together and we have identified, for example, that we must join forces in competitive national and European calls to aspire to obtain funds that allow us to develop technology that is of interest to the aeronautical sector, in the military and civil spheres.” In reference to CETEDEX, he stated that “it must lead to a powerful, innovative and business ecosystem in which we must forge alliances that help develop this system.” Likewise, regarding Cetedex, Nicolás Ruiz pointed out that both institutions and companies must work together, stressing that “we see a clear window of opportunity to work with the CATEC ATLAS Center.”

For her part, Macarena Márquez, responsible for the management of the ATLAS Centers located in Villacarrillo and Beas de Segura, has valued the “first-class” infrastructures they have, in which, for example, prototypes of air taxis are currently being tested. Regarding the collaboration with the UJA, he said that “there are many synergies with the CETEDEX programme that we can explore together and we have started a round of visits to make this collaboration as effective as possible”.

The Rector of the UJA was accompanied on his visit by the Vice-Rector for Research and Knowledge Transfer, Mª Victoria López, and by the Director of the UJA International Projects Office, Emilio Muñoz.
