EHang Holdings Limited (Nasdaq: EH), the world’s leading autonomous aerial vehicle (UAV) technology platform company, has successfully completed the BAUD project, in close collaboration with the Center for Advanced Aerospace Technologies (CATEC)
The BAUD Project, part of the Invest in Spain Program of the Spanish Institute for Foreign Trade (ICEX), has the objective of improving the operational safety and efficiency of air logistics missions of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), as well as enabling its integration into U-space.
During a year of intensive industrial research, EHang and CATEC designed, developed, tested and validated an autonomous airborne beacon, which uses the European global navigation satellite systems, EGNOS (European Complementary Geostationary Navigation Service) and Galileo, to provide positioning of the most accurate and comprehensive UAS, along with UAS status, remote eID, and tactical conflict information, for integration with U-Space systems. In addition, it takes advantage of 5G connectivity, for optimal data transmission between the UAS and the U-space systems.
The flight test campaigns were carried out at the ATLAS Experimental Flight Center, in the town of Villacarrillo, Jaén, using two EHang Falcon L autonomous aerial vehicles. The development under the BAUD project is platform-independent and will allow safe operation of UAS in European airspace, through its intelligent integration with U-space systems.
Victoria Xiang, COO of EHang Europe and Latin America, highlighted: “We are delighted to announce that we have successfully completed the BAUD project, achieving all its goals and objectives. EHang values the opportunities for public-private collaboration in Spain to develop R+D+i in its territory. This has encouraged EHang to execute various innovation projects, share EHang’s world-leading technology and extensive international experience in Urban Air Mobility, and strengthen its extensive technology collaboration network in Europe.”
