CATEC leads the ECO-AERO project, the only aerospace innovation ecosystem funded by the CDTI in Spain, which will promote collaboration between companies, clusters and technological centres, strengthening the national supply chain and ensuring the global competitiveness of the aerospace industry.
This important interregional aerospace innovation ecosystem is the only one in Spain that has been awarded by the Centre for Technological Development and Innovation (CDTI), within the first call for “Innovation Ecosystems” based on the Cervera Excellence Networks, which makes it a benchmark in the research and development of aerospace technologies in our country.
The main objective is to position Spain as a leader in the aerospace sector in Cervera technologies such as: Additive Manufacturing, Advanced Materials, Applied AI or Robotics in smart manufacturing.
The ECO-AERO consortium brings together major players in the sector such as AIRBUS, Andalucía Aerospace, ASIME, FIDAMC, HEGAN, TEDAE, TEKNIKER and other subcontracted entities, to drive innovation in the aerospace sector. With a focus on sustainability and digitalisation, it seeks to strengthen the supply chain and promote green aviation with the development of both manned and unmanned systems and subsystems for NewSpace and innovative propulsion systems.
Robotic technologies and advanced surfaces for the aerospace sector are therefore the keys to this transformative project, which has a duration of 22 months and a budget of 1,112,994 euros.
