The Regional Ministry of Economy, Finance and European Funds will organize, through Andalucia TRADE, the seventh edition of Aerospace & Defense Meetings-ADM Seville 2024, the largest business meeting of the aerospace industry that is held in Spain and southern Europe and will take place between May 14 and 16, with the aim of consolidating Andalusia as a point of reference on the world the sector.
The event was presented at the Paris Air Show-Le Bourget Fair by the Regional Minister of Economy, Finance and European Funds, Carolina España, together with the general director of Andalucía TRADE, Antonio Castro, and the president of the firm BCI Aerospace, Stéphane Castet. BCI is a multinational specialized in international events for the aerospace industry, with which this biennial business forum is organized, which will celebrate its twelfth anniversary in 2024.
Carolina España stressed that the objective of this meeting, which “has established itself as the business event for the aerospace sector in Spain and the most important in southern Europe” is “to show Andalusia and Seville in particular, as a key investment for the aeronautical sector”.
The counselor predicted that ADM Sevilla will contribute to “increasing the turnover of the cluster and its internationalization”, in addition to “promoting the attraction of foreign direct investment to Andalusia from this and other complex industries”.
“For the Andalusian Government, it is essential to promote the international projection of the Andalusian aeronautical sector and the Andalucía Aerospace cluster”, “a strategic industry for Andalusia, with 90 companies out of the 143 that make up the sector, which generates 13,136 direct jobs, 8% more than in 2020”.
More than 1,200 professionals from 29 countries
ADM Sevilla has been held at Fibes since 2012 with great success, and in its last edition, in May 2022, it had 1,251 professionals from 323 companies from 29 countries, even though it was held affected by the pandemic. All these international agents participated in a total of 8,500 business meetings that reinforced the privileged nature of the event for commercial relations between the Spanish industry and the Andalusian cluster in particular, with the rest of the manufacturers and supply chains from around the world.
Carolina España announced that the next edition of the ADM Seville aeronautical fair will address topics such as Eurodrone, cybersecurity, the main trends and challenges in the space sector, aerospace human resources and the role that Spain is playing in space programs.
In addition, it will have an exhibition area with companies that do not have their own stand, so that more entities can access said fair. This edition will also feature as a novelty a mobile application in which it will be possible to consult the agendas, conference program and map of the fair.
Andalucía TRADE-Business Agency for Economic Transformation and Development has the objective that ADM Sevilla 2024 exceeds the participation figures of old editions and consolidates, in this way, the presence of high-quality professionals in terms of the entity and maximum relevance of international contractors who will participate in this event, which will allow Andalusian companies to establish contacts at the highest level with the main world players in the sector. The appointment has been supported in each edition by manufacturers such as Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, etc.; Tier 1 international, as well as Tier 1 aerostructures in Spain, Aernnova or Aciturri.
The Junta de Andalucía thus reinforces the presence of this strategic sector for the Region which contributed the most in 2022 to the increase in exports from Spain, with 2,134 million euros of sales abroad and 39% more than the year former.
The organization of ADM Sevilla means the consolidation of an internationalization strategy for the sector that is developed by the Regional Ministry, through Andalucía TRADE and with the collaboration of the Andalucía Aerospace cluster. To this end, the public agency supports the Andalusian aerospace cluster with an intense program focused on participating in the main international fairs, the development of trade missions to the main markets and other types of internationalization actions, in which throughout 2023 the up to 44 Andalusian companies have participated.
For all these reasons, ADM Sevilla had since its inception the collaboration, as institutional support, of the rest of the agents of the Spanish industry, through TEDAE (Spanish Association of Technological, Defense, Aeronautical and Space Companies), and Andalucía Aerospace, the Andalusian aerospace cluster. In addition, the event is supported by Aerópolis, the Andalusia Aerospace Park, the TecnoBahía de Cádiz Technology Park, CATEC-Centro Avanzado de Tecnologías Aeroespaciales, and Invest in Spain (ICEX), from the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism.
A dozen Andalusian firms in Le Bourget
The presentation of this new edition of ADM has been carried out within the framework of the Paris Air Show-Le Bourget fair, held from June 19 to 25, at the French airport of Le Bourget, and has welcomed the presence of 10 Andalusian companies, seven of which have had the support of Andalucía TRADE within the Spanish Pavilion, organized by TEDAE. These firms are Sevilla Control, Skylife Engineering, Aerotecnic Metallic, UMI Aeronáutica, Indaero and Sofitec, and M&M from Cádiz. In addition, outside the space organized by the Junta, the firms of the Andalusian cluster Aciturri-Alestis (Seville), Aernnova (Seville) and Aertec (Málaga) attended.
Finally, the cluster of this industry in the region, Andalucía Aerospace, is also present. It represents a sector made up of almost 100 companies and entities, and coordinates its activity with Andalucía TRADE in this fair and in many other actions, under the agreement signed this year by the Regional Head of Economy, Finance and European Funds, Carolina España, in her capacity as president of Andalucía TRADE, and by the president of Andalucía Aerospace, Antonio Gómez Guillamón. With this agreement, Andalucía Aerospace became a collaborating entity for the agency’s internationalization actions.
Andalusia, the one that contributes the most to national growth
Andalusia is one of the main hubs of Europe and, along with Toulouse and Hamburg, the only one with a final assembly line (FAL) for a large aircraft, the Airbus A400M. This exerts a notable boost to this industry and is greatly reflected in its international activity, which has shown a notable recovery in 2022, after two years mediated by the restrictions on the movement of passengers imposed by the pandemic.
According to data from Andalucía TRADE, the Andalusian aeronautical industry experienced a strong increase in its exports of 39% in 2022 compared to the previous year, up to billing 2,134 million euros, which shows the complete recovery of the sector after the paralysis it experienced due to the pandemic. This is a figure that places Andalusia as the community that contributes the most to the growth in sales of the Spanish industry, with more than half of the increase (15 points over the 29.2% increase in national sales).
Seville remains the epicenter of Andalusian aeronautics, to which provinces such as Cádiz and Málaga also contribute, while others are being incorporated with great growth. Seville concentrates 99% of sales with 2,113 million and an increase of 39%; while Cádiz is second, with 8.3 million; followed by Malaga, which had a turnover of 7.5 million, growing by 75%.
