According to monographic study by the Provincial Council of Seville, through Prodetur, and FEDEME with the support of AERO Sevilla

The Sevillian aerospace industry is a world leader in competitiveness, generates a large volume of business and employment and reflects a high degree of internationalization. These are data collected in the “Monographic study on the current situation and expectations of the aerospace sector of Seville and its province”, which analyzes the positioning of the aerospace sector of Seville worldwide: figures, innovation and implementation of new technologies, ecosystem business, main programs in which companies in the sector and its province participate, in addition to its national and international projection and future perspectives.

Specifically, this work consists of a monographic study on the current situation and expectations of the aerospace sector in the province of Seville and a complete company directory in which information sheets of nearly 70 companies in the sector that operate from Seville and its province are collected.

Current situation and expectations

Seville is a world leader in aerostructure manufacturing technologies with composite materials in unmanned aerial systems, and one of the three unique hubs in the world where iconic aircraft in the sector such as the C-295 and large aircrafts such as the A400M are assembled, tested and delivered. Seville is also a world reference in training for military aircraft crews. The majority of companies in the aerospace sector in Seville are located in San José de la Rinconada (52%), in the Aerospace Technology Park of Andalusia, Aerópolis, the only specialized enclave in Spain dedicated exclusively to the aeronautical and aerospace industry; The rest of the companies in the sector are located in the capital (28%), and in other municipalities (20%).

Of the 77 companies in the sector in the province, this study reaches a participation of 50 companies, which offers a representation of 64.93% of the sector. 80% of the companies in the aerospace sector in the province of Seville that have participated in this report work on Airbus programs.

The aerospace auxiliary sector of the province of Seville is made up mostly of SMEs (40.42%), which, together with microenterprises, represents 70.21% of the total, companies highly specialized in technology and products, with a large accumulated know-how.

Among the main figures offered by the study are those of employment and turnover. Regarding employment, and according to this report, it has increased by almost 10% in 2022, the year in which 453 new jobs were created, reaching almost 5,000 jobs in the sector (4,982).

Regarding the turnover of these companies, the trend is parallel to the growth of employment, increasing by 13.13%, going from a turnover of 405,209,372.92 euros, in 2021, to 466,478,916.44 euros, in 2022 .

Companies in the aerospace sector of Seville export to the five continents, to more than 52 countries, mainly in Europe. The turnover of about 25% of these companies depends on the foreign market, exceeding the national market by more than 50%, and in some cases, reaching more than 70%.

Regarding the short-term economic outlook, the sector foresees growth, both in terms of turnover and employability, during this year 2023. According to its forecasts, 19.21% more employment will be generated on average in the year 2023 and 12.89% more turnover. Likewise, they foresee a growth in exports of between 5 and 10% on average.
