This alliance, called NT-SHARE, aims to develop new disruptive technologies related to UAS that form the technological base so that in the future, applications and services with high added value can be developed for the UAS industry, with great potential in Andalusia
The company AERTEC, an international technology company specialized in aeronautics and defense, and the Advanced Center for Aerospace Technologies, CATEC, combine their capabilities in a strategic project to develop new disruptive technologies related to UAS (Unmanned Aerial Systems). For this, both entities have created a Joint Innovation Unit (UIC) called NT-SHARE, an initiative focused on research in the industrial field with the aim of facing and offering solutions to current technological challenges.
AERTEC and CATEC are two of the main actors in the innovation ecosystem of the aerospace sector in Andalusia, especially in the field of UAS, and with this UIC they will form a technological base so that applications and services of high added value can be developed in the future with light and highly efficient unmanned aerial platforms formed by heterogeneous swarms of UAS, which in turn include collision detection and avoidance systems that allow their operation over long distances.
Through NT-SHARE, a series of technological demonstrators will be developed for the validation of concepts related to the operation of UAS, which will have been previously validated in simulation environments. From a technical point of view, the project aims to develop coordination mechanisms between heterogeneous UAS, develop technologies for the management of unmanned aircraft automatically, and develop a collision detection and avoidance system that allows the integration of both information from non-aircraft. cooperatives such as cooperatives for the safe integration of UAS in non-segregated airspace.
As a result of the execution of the project, a series of enabling technologies will be available in the fields of study, capable of being matured and industrialized in the medium term after the completion of the project for future commercial exploitation by the members of this consortium. Because, as Antidio Viguria, Director of Avionics and Systems at CATEC, argues, “the creation of technological knowledge and its transfer to the industrial productive fabric, which is one of the main objectives of CATEC, is the best guarantee for companies to maintain their competitive advantages. ”
Improvement of the competitiveness of the Andalusian UAS industry
At an economic level, NT-SHARE will contribute to the increase of the industrial and technological fabric related to the UAS / RPAS sector in Andalusia, it will promote investment in R&D in disruptive technological fields that contribute to the positioning of our region in the international market. For Pedro Becerra, Corporate Director of Aerospace & Defense at AERTEC, “this technological synergy between two leading entities in the RPAS sector will allow us to continue innovating in a field in which Andalusia has great potential, both due to its scientific-technological infrastructures as well as having highly qualified personnel for technological development oriented towards products or services with high added value ”.
NT-SHARE is an initiative aligned with the Andalusian Innovation Strategy 2020 RIS3 and with the Andalusian Aerospace Action Plan, and which is called to exert an important driving effect in the region, contributing to the generation of new knowledge, to strengthen and to extend the relationship between key entities of the innovation ecosystem and to research and develop technologies that may provide new capabilities to the UAS developed by the Andalusian industry, improving their competitiveness in the global market and giving them a differential character. The AERTEC Development Center, in the Aerospace Technology Park of Andalusia Aerópolis, will be the headquarters of this strategic project.
