The aid granted in this call has the possibility of reduction or exemption of guarantees and advance payments upon signing of the contracts
The Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities has just opened a new call for R&D and innovation projects of the PERTE Vanguard Health, with a budget of up to 273 million, and Aerospace, with a budget of up to 240 million. Of the total of 513 million available for this call for aid, which is managed by the CDTI and is linked to the Addendum to the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan recently approved by the European Commission on October 2, 2023, up to 100 million may correspond to a non-refundable tranche or equivalent subsidy, depending on the total volume of aid requested.
This action, financed with funds from the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism and aligned with the objectives established for the PERTE by the Council of Ministers in 2021 and 2022, is focused on the development of R&D&I activities, scaling, industrial, modernization and updating of manufacturing processes, digitalization and technological updating, development and implementation of sustainable processes, in the context of new forms of public-private collaboration that are key to the execution of the projects contemplated in the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan and whose profile has a great traction and drag capacity for economic growth, employment and the competitiveness of the Spanish economy. All individual projects requesting aid must be completed before December 31, 2025.
Specifically, in what corresponds to aerospace, the objectives are to turn the Spanish industry into a key player in the challenges and opportunities associated with the major transformations planned in the short and medium term in the global strategic space market.
Aid eligibility
The aerospace field is considered to be everything related to the design, development, manufacturing, operation and maintenance of manned and unmanned aircraft, space vehicles and propulsion systems, as well as the corresponding infrastructure necessary for their operation and to carry out experimentation and testing in its development phases and the development of commercial services directly related to aeronautics and space infrastructure.
R&D and technological innovation projects whose objectives and contents primarily observe:
- Research and development aimed at increasing the efficiency of aircraft and significantly reducing polluting emissions from air transport, including airport infrastructure and air navigation systems that facilitate more efficient air traffic.
- New developments of unmanned aircraft and necessary software and hardware infrastructure for their safe operation in shared airspace.
- Embedded systems and equipment.
- Design of payloads related to environmental control, quantum communications and security in international cooperation.
- Strengthening Spanish technological capabilities for the commercial use of space (including New Space).
- Sustainability, digitalization and innovation of the aerospace industry, including innovative maintenance systems, such as predictive analysis and real-time monitoring.
- R&D projects in this area, whose content represents a significant technological leap or an increase in the technological capacity of the company.
