The companies of the Space Commission of the Andalucía Aerospace Cluster have signed a manifesto in favor of the development of the Space industry in Andalusia, on the occasion of the celebration of World Space Week
Gathered in Aerópolis, the companies of Andalucía Aerospace have signed the manifesto with the desire to convey to all of society and public and private institutions the importance of taking advantage of the opportunities that arise to develop more business, more companies and more employment in the Space sector in Andalusia.
Through this manifesto, the aim is to highlight the Space sector as a driver of great scientific advances in strategic sectors such as Communications, Transportation, the Environment, Energy, Agriculture or Defense and Security.
The NewSpace includes technologies that will allow us to have better management of our territory, a greater capacity to respond to climatic and meteorological adversities, have Internet of Things (IoT) coverage and basic communications in a homogeneous way.
In Andalusia there is already an emerging ecosystem of more than 150 diverse entities that work in the Space sector between companies, research groups and various organizations. In addition to the industrial environment, there are educational centers and universities that provide top-level aerospace training.
The creation of a Spanish Space Agency and its location in Seville is a great achievement. Through the manifesto, the companies call for all institutions to work together to promote the Space sector in Andalusia, as has been done to make Seville the headquarters of the Spanish Space Agency.
Andalusian companies are already developing and promoting driving projects that can boost the sector, such as the projects called Andalusat, Alpha or Platero, implemented from Andalusia and by companies with a presence in Andalusia.
Finally, companies request the involvement and collaboration of public administrations so that these projects can be carried out. Andalusia has an Aerospace Strategy 2020-2027 that includes measures to promote Space. The companies have urged that these measures be materialized, as well as that innovative public procurement be promoted in a manner agreed upon with the Andalusian productive fabric.
With the development of the space sector in both Andalusia and Spain, the aim is to promote national technological independence from third countries in an industry considered strategic.
