Together with the ATLAS Center in Villacarrillo, Ja\u00e9n, Aer\u00f3polis hosted the event \u20185G, the new reality for the aerospace sector\u2019, organized by the Regional Ministry of Economic Transformation and Vodafone<\/h3>\n

5G technology is a reality in many productive sectors. In the aerospace sector, this enabling technology opens the doors to an unimaginable future. Air taxis or drones that rescue people, offer medical assistance in emergencies, improve cultivation techniques or monitor borders.<\/p>\n

Aer\u00f3polis hosted on June 9 a pioneering conference in Spain in which prominent experts from the sector participated and which was attended by Roberto S\u00e1nchez S\u00e1nchez, Secretary of State for Telecommunications, Rogelio Velasco Perez, Regional Minister of Economic Transformation, Industry, Knowledge and Universities and Ant\u00f3nio Coimbra, President of Vodafone. The conference is part of the initiative \u00abImpulso 5G Andaluc\u00eda\u00bb, promoted by the Regional Ministry of Economic Transformation of the Junta de Andaluc\u00eda and Vodafone to promote this technology in our region. During the event, real use cases of 5G technology application in this area were shown, with live flight demonstrations from the ATLAS Center in Villacarrillo, J\u00e1en.<\/p>\n

Opportunity for the sector<\/h2>\n

During his speech, the head of Economic Transformation, Rogelio Velasco, opted for 5G as a business opportunity to promote the recovery of the aerospace industry, and highlighted that the next line of aid of 15 million aimed at this productive activity \u00abwill breathe into its economic oxygen business fabric \u00bb<\/p>\n

Velasco, stressed that 5G technology or drones constitute \u00abnew business opportunities, based on innovation and knowledge, to promote the recovery of one of the sectors with more muscle in the regional economy as soon as possible.\u00bb<\/p>\n

In this field, the head of Economic Transformation defended that \u00aba prominent part of the companies that bring these technologies to the market are Andalusians.\u00bb Spain is, after Poland and France, the third country in Europe in the number of operators in terms of the use of drones in the civil market and, on a national scale, Andalusia occupies the second position after Madrid.<\/p>\n

In this regard, he assured that \u00abthe region has strengths to maintain and improve that position\u00bb and for this he underlined the role that two key infrastructures will have. On the one hand, the future Testing Center for Unmanned Systems (CEUS), which will have its headquarters in the Huelva municipality of Moguer that \u00abwill be a reality in 2023\u00bb, and on the other, the Atlas Center in Villacarrillo (Ja\u00e9n), which \u00abIt will gradually expand its capabilities to establish itself as a European reference facility in experimental flights.\u00bb<\/p>\n

Support for a strategic sector<\/h2>\n

Rogelio Velasco pointed out that his department gives priority attention to the aerospace sector, materialized in various measures. The most imminent will be the announcement this June of a package of aid of 15 million aimed at this industry and also the naval one.<\/p>\n

Collaboration with Vodafone<\/p>\n

The Regional Minister of Economic Transformation also referred to the collaboration set up with Vodafone to face the digital transition in the region. Thus, among the actions implemented, the regional initiative \u2018Impulso 5G Andaluc\u00eda\u2019 stands out to promote the knowledge and development of this technology. It includes up to 20 virtual training actions aimed at companies and entrepreneurs, and the launch of innovation challenges, which is already being carried out, in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, that of ‘Smart application of phytosanitary products with drones in real time’ .<\/p>\n

To this is added the Minerva Program, the accelerator of technologically innovative business projects promoted by both.<\/p>\n
